The Mahantongo Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) recognized outstanding high school seniors from across Schuylkill County during its annual Good Citizenship Award banquet, held Sunday, April 12, at the Country Kitchen.
Each participating high school selected one senior to receive the DAR Good Citizenship Award, which honors students who demonstrate dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. Honorees submitted applications and letters of recommendation, while those competing for the chapter scholarship also completed a proctored essay.
During the banquet, Francesco Avarell Carr of Blue Mountain High School was announced as the recipient of the Mahantongo Chapter’s $150 Good Citizenship Scholarship. The award was presented by Marian Tichy of the Mahantongo Chapter DAR. Carr’s application and essay will now advance to the state-level competition.
All recognized students received a certificate and a DAR Good Citizenship pin in acknowledgment of their achievements.
