The incident reportedly occurred on May 7, 2026, at an apartment in the 500 block of North Centre Street. Police allege the suspects entered the residence wearing ski masks, threatened occupants with firearms, assaulted one victim, and stole cash, marijuana, clothing, and other items.
Charged in the case are:
- Julian Chapman, 17, of St. Clair
- Joshua Melchizedek Brevett, 19, of Mahanoy City
- Coleby James Dimitri, 18, of Mount Carmel
- Kiyone Lymeek Sherwood, 19, of St. Clair
According to affidavits filed by Pottsville Police, officers were dispatched around 9:36 p.m. on May 7 to speak with a woman regarding an armed robbery that had occurred earlier that evening. The woman told police she and three others had been robbed at gunpoint approximately an hour and a half earlier.
The woman told investigators she had gone to the apartment to complete a nail appointment with another woman. She said Chapman arrived at the apartment shortly after she did, and later Brevett, Dimitri, and another male arrived. Surveillance video reportedly captured a white Dodge Caliber arriving at and leaving the apartment building. Police said the vehicle was later identified as a 2009 Dodge Caliber registered to Sherwood.
According to the affidavit, the victim told police Chapman appeared anxious throughout the evening and was allegedly texting continuously. The victim stated Chapman eventually left the apartment and shortly afterward there was a knock at the door.
The woman told police that after another individual opened the door, three masked men rushed upstairs into the bedroom where she was. She identified the masked individuals as Chapman, Dimitri, and Brevett based on prior interactions with them and because one allegedly removed his ski mask during the incident.
Police allege the victims were forced to sit on the edge of a bed while Dimitri and Brevett pointed handguns at them and demanded they “empty your pockets.” The victim told investigators one firearm was pressed against her nose during the robbery. Court documents further allege the suspects stole money, phones, marijuana, PS5 items, clothing, and other belongings from the residence.
The affidavit also alleges the woman was assaulted after refusing to surrender her cellphone. Police said she told investigators Dimitri slammed her to the ground, grabbed her by the jacket, and later threw her onto a bed while demanding her phone.
Police said Chapman later arrived at Pottsville City Hall with his grandfather after being asked by St. Clair Police to do so. According to the affidavit, Chapman initially denied involvement before changing his account. Police said the interview ended after Chapman requested an attorney.
Chapman was charged with felony counts of robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery, along with conspiracy to commit burglary and misdemeanor theft. Court records show he was initially unable to post bail before later being released after posting $100,000 bail through a bondsman. His preliminary hearing was continued to June 1.
Brevett is charged with robbery, conspiracy, burglary, terroristic threats, theft, and simple assault. Bail was denied in his case.
Dimitri faces charges including robbery, conspiracy, burglary, terroristic threats, theft, and simple assault.
Sherwood was charged later in the investigation with burglary, robbery, conspiracy, and theft-related offenses after police alleged he drove the Dodge Caliber used during the incident. Court records show Sherwood was released on $50,000 unsecured bail following arraignment.
Preliminary hearings for the defendants are scheduled before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley.
