The driver of an SUV was transported to the hospital after crashing into a building in Port Carbon at a high rate of speed on Monday morning.
The incident occurred just before 8:30am when an SUV slammed into the side of Little Sunshines Daycare along East Street/Route 209 in Port Carbon.
Emergency personnel arrived to find the driver confined in the vehicle.
The children and employees inside the daycare escaped and were not injured.
The driver of the SUV suffered injuries and were transported to an area hospital.
No details were available on what led to the crash.
The vehicle was pulled from the building and the roadway was reopened just after 11:00am. Drivers should use caution in the area as some emergency personnel and investigators remain on scene.
Responding to the scene were units from Port Carbon, Palo Alto, and Pottsville, as well as Schuylkill EMS.
