A Pottsville man was jailed Thursday after police say he threatened to stab a woman during a domestic dispute in the city's Seventh Ward.
According to Pottsville Police, officers were dispatched to the area of North Seventh and Arch streets at approximately 9:53 a.m. on June 18, after a caller reported seeing a man and woman arguing in the street. The caller also reported that the shirtless man appeared to have a knife tucked into his waistband.
When officers arrived, they encountered 28-year-old Travis Michael Donmoyer and a 30-year-old woman. Police said they had responded to multiple incidents involving the pair over the previous two days.
Investigators said the woman had been attempting to end the relationship, but Donmoyer allegedly insisted they reconcile. According to police, Donmoyer approached the woman in the 100 block of North Seventh Street in an aggressive manner and told her, "You're gonna be with me… you're not leaving," before allegedly threatening, "I'm gonna stab you."
The woman reportedly observed a knife in Donmoyer's waistband while the threat was made and feared for her safety as she attempted to get away. A witness in the area contacted 911.
Police said Donmoyer was found to be carrying a large multi-colored knife with an approximately five-inch blade. Officers instructed him to place the weapon on the ground, and he complied. The knife was seized as evidence.
According to police, while being taken into custody, Donmoyer stated, "If I did, I didn't mean to," in response to the alleged threat. After being advised of his Miranda rights, police said he repeatedly attempted to speak with the woman and at one point apologized.
Donmoyer was charged with terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor; simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; and summary harassment.
Following his arraignment before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley, Donmoyer was committed to Schuylkill County Prison after failing to post 10% of his $15,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled before Judge Reiley on June 22nd, 2026.
