Interstate 81 southbound is closed in Schuylkill County as of late Tuesday.
Around 11:20pm, emergency personnel were dispatched to mile marker 103 for a report of a multi-vehicle accident involving multiple tractor trailers.
The first fire personnel to arrive on scene reported several tractor trailers being involved in the accident and a large debris field blocking the roadway. Several injuries were reported but the extent of those injuries was not known. At least one victim was transported to a landing zone.
Shortly after, it was requested that the Interstate 81 be shut down at the Ravine exit at mile marker 104. As of midnight, multiple units were still on scene at the accident.
