Joseph G. “The Barber” Strenkoski, 81, of Brier City, passed away peacefully June 30, 2026 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born In Llewellyn, October 28, 1944, he was son of the late Leo and Mary (Connelly) Strenkoski.

He attended Cass Township Schools before graduating from Minersville High School.

Joseph was the proprietor of Strenkoski’s Barber Shop, Minersville, where he worked with his daughter Heather. He also worked as a part time electrician and loved model trains.

He was a member of Holy Family Parish of Minersville, and the former St. Stanislaus RCC; Minersville Lions Club; Lifetime member of Mountaineer Hose Co.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary (Lipsky) Strenkoski on July 19, 2025; Brothers Leo Strenkoski; William Strenkoski; James Strenkoski; Edward Strenkoski; Sisters Catherine Strenkoski; Joanne Strenkoski.

Surviving are a son Joseph Strenkoski and his wife Lisa; daughter Heather Breisch and her husband Christopher; Grandchildren Gabriel Robitaille and his wife Abigail; Sayer Breisch; Talya Breisch; Alyssa Strenkoski and her husband Tristan; Hope Strenkoski; Julia Strenkoski; Many nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday July 6, 2026 at St. Stanislaus #2 Cemetery, Minersville with Rev. Jojappa Adagatla Officiating. In Lieu of flowers contribution may be made to Janet Weis Children’s Hospital 100 Academy Lane Danville, PA 17822. Dutcavich Funeral Home and Cremation Care, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

Ann Marie Davenport, 66, of Glen Dowr, Foster twp., passed away Tuesday, June 30th, at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.

Ann was born in Pottsville, Pa. on October 24, 1959, a daughter of Wanda (Svrcek) Filer and the late Joseph J. Svrcek.

She was the wife of David L. Davenport.

She was formerly a Supervisor at Holiday Home Fashions

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother Steven Svrcek, and sisters Wanda Yurconis, and Marie.

Ann is survived by her loving husband, David, six sons David Jr., Eric, Joshua, Aaron, Adam, and Shawn Davenport, two sisters, Kathleen Witmer, and Stacia Moll, four brothers, Joseph, John, Martin, and Andrew Svrcek. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Nieces & nephews.

At the request of the family all Services are private at the convenience of family..

Interment at Odd Fellows Cemetery, St. Clair.

Charles J. Schaaf
, 85, of Ringtown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, July 1, 2026, while a guest at the Shenandoah Senior Living Community.

Charlie was born in Danville on June 10, 1941, a son of the late Fred and Olive (Gebhardt) Schaaf. He was a 1959 graduate of the former Ringtown High School and started his working career at Parish Steel in Reading, later working for Brodmoor homes, then retiring from Zapata Industries in Frackville.

He was always willing to help his friends and neighbors, and over the years he mowed many yards along West Main Street.An avid outdoorsman, Charlie enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping, and was a member and former treasurer of both the Shenandoah Fish and Game Club and the Ringtown Valley Sporting Club. He was also a long time member and volunteer at the Ringtown Fire Company and also a member of St. Mary's Church in Ringtown.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Donna (Neiswender) Schaaf in 2006.

He is survived by his children, Pamela, wife of Gerald Lupotsky, Sr., and Carl Schaaf and his wife, Michelle. Three grandchildren, Gerald Lupotsky, Jr., Alyssa Keeney (Derek) and Ashley Lupotsky, survive along with great grandchildren, Haven Grey Lupotsky, Everett Rakus, and Ella Rakus. He was also expecting the arrival of another great grandchild in the near future.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, North Center Street, Ringtown at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, July 7th. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Monday evening from 6-8 PM and again on Tuesday morning from 10-11 AM at the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street, Ringtown. Charlie will be laid to rest along side his wife, Donna at St. Mary's Cemetery, immediately following the Mass.

Russell T. Smith
, 92, of Waynesboro, Franklin County, former Mowry resident, passed away, Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the Quincy Retirement Village, Waynesboro. Born in Mowry, December 19, 1933, he was the son of the late Emerson and Gertrude (Runge) Smith. He was a graduate of the former Butler Township High School, class of 1951. Following high school, Russ attended Williamson Trade School, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving with the 97th Signal Battalion Radio Company in Germany, attaining the rank of Specialist Three. Following his service time, he was employed as a mechanical engineer for Landis Tool Company, Waynesboro until his retirement in 1997. Russ was a member of the Penn-Mar Community Church, Cascade, Md. Preceding him in death was a son; Todd, passing September 8, 2015, a Great Grandson, Austin Staley in 2021, and brothers; Loren, Donald, and Edwin Smith.

Daughter: Tammy wife of Doug Staley, Waynesboro

Sister: Miriam Hummel, Lavelle

Sisters in Law: Nadine and Barbara Smith

Grandchildren: Andy Staley, Shelby Smith, Brittany Wang, Bethany Gross, and Chris Staley

Great Grand Children: Aaliyah, Aidan, and Adrian Dennis

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a grave side Celebration of Russell’s Life, with Army Military Honors, July 7, 2026, at 11 AM, in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Lavelle.
