Suzette Dillman of Leesport has been charged with felony counts of theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception and receiving stolen property, along with a misdemeanor count of forgery.
According to an affidavit filed by Orwigsburg Borough Police, a woman reported June 13 that she had discovered an unauthorized $7,500 withdrawal from her bank account. The transaction had reportedly occurred June 5 at a bank branch in Lancaster.
Police said the bank was presented with a check made payable to the victim’s daughter, who is also listed on the account. The victim's daughter told investigators she did not write the check.
Orwigsburg Police obtained a search warrant for surveillance footage and other records related to the transaction.
During the investigation, police were contacted by the Laureldale Police Department regarding a similar unauthorized withdrawal allegedly made at the same bank branch. Laureldale investigators submitted an image of the female suspect for facial recognition analysis, which reportedly returned a possible match to Dillman.
Orwigsburg Police received the bank’s surveillance video July 16. Investigators allege the footage showed a woman completing the unauthorized withdrawal at approximately 5:25 p.m. Friday, June 5.
Police said the woman in the footage was compared with Dillman’s recent arrest photographs, leading investigators to identify her as the suspect.
Charges were filed July 16 before Magisterial District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek. Dillman is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
