Proceeds from Ashland’s first Coal Region Car Show will help preserve one of the borough’s best-known landmarks.
Car Show Proceeds Benefit Ashland Mothers’ Memorial
The Ashland Gardening Angels board announced Friday that it has designated $2,000 from the 2026 event toward preservation and improvements at the Mothers’ Memorial.
The group said the statue known as “The Mother” requires professional conservation and that it has received an estimate of approximately $4,300 for the work. The $2,000 commitment will cover part of that estimated cost.
Over time, the Gardening Angels also hope to pursue updated lighting, safety improvements and other enhancements to the memorial area.
“The Mother has stood watch over Ashland for generations. Now it’s our turn to help take care of her,” the Ashland Gardening Angels wrote in their announcement.
First Coal Region Car Show Draws 238 Vehicles
The inaugural Coal Region Car Show, held , at Memorial Field in Ashland, drew 238 vehicles.
The Gardening Angels thanked the vehicle owners, visitors, volunteers and other supporters who helped make the contribution toward the memorial possible.
The Mothers’ Memorial was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2020 along with Ashland’s Hoffman Memorial and Veterans’ Memorial.
