SCHUYLKILL COUNTY — Interstate 81 southbound is closed at the Tremont Exit following a single-vehicle crash reportedly involving a tractor-trailer Wednesday morning.
Emergency Crews Respond to I-81 Crash
The crash occurred shortly before 6 a.m. on . As of 6:15 a.m., the southbound lanes remained closed at the Tremont Exit.
The driver was reportedly trapped inside the vehicle, and emergency crews encountered a large debris field across the roadway.
Pine Grove emergency units responded to the scene and requested a second-alarm rescue unit to assist with extricating the driver.
Fuel Spill Reported Along Interstate
A large fuel spill was also reported following the crash.
Officials have not announced when Interstate 81 southbound will reopen. Motorists should avoid the area and expect delays while emergency operations continue.
