A 17-year-old Ashland girl was flown to a hospital after her car overturned and traveled down an embankment along Interstate 81 on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, according to Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville.
Car Overturns Along Interstate 81 North
The crash occurred at approximately 1:27 p.m. near mile marker 112.8 on Interstate 81 North.
Police said the teenager was driving a 2016 Subaru Legacy in the right lane when the car struck the end of a guide rail on the east side of the highway. The vehicle became airborne and rolled onto its roof.
The Subaru continued north along the shoulder, struck another section of guide rail and traveled down an embankment before hitting a tree, according to police.
The car sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
Teenager Extricated and Flown to Hospital
Firefighters from Donaldson Fire Company and Hegins Valley Fire Company used mechanical equipment to extricate the driver.
Tremont Area Ambulance transported her to a landing zone before she was flown to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
State police reported that the teenager was wearing a seat belt. The public crash report listed the severity of her injuries as unknown.
