Rush Township Police To Hold Second Annual 5K Run/Walk

The Rush Township Police Department is holding its second annual 5K Run/Walk on Saturday October 19th 2019. The race will start at 10:00AM at the Hometown Farmer’s Market at 125 Mahanoy Avenue Tamaqua, PA 18252. The proceeds will benefit the improvement of Rush Township Community Parks.

DEP Reaches Civil Penalty Against Soap Manufacturing Company for Unpermitted Discharges into Luzerne County Creek

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) announced Tuesday that Henkel US Operations Corp. has agreed to pay a $19,410 civil penalty for five unpermitted discharges into a Luzerne County Creek, reporting violations, and failure to comply with monitoring and sampling requirements.

Rush Township Police Looking for Man Who Stole Carton of Cigarettes

The Rush Township Police is looking for a man who stole a carton of cigarettes from a location convenience store.

According to Chief Kenneth Zipovsky, on September 17, 2019 around 8:00am, a white male in his mid-20s, wearing camouflage shorts, red under amour hat and a blue zip up hoodie entered a convenience store on Claremont Avenue (SR309) in Rush Township, and asked for a carton of Newport Menthol box 100 cigarettes.

The male then grabbed the carton of cigarettes from the clerk’s hand and ran out of the store.

He fled the scene in a newer model black Ford SUV, and went north on Claremont Avenue (SR309).

Schuylkill County Natives Become PA State Troopers

Earlier this month, Commissioner Robert Evanchick announced that 98 cadets graduated from the State Police Academy in Hershey and have been assigned to troops across the commonwealth. The men and women represent the 156th graduating cadet class.  Two of those graduates are natives from Schuylkill County.
