Erratic Driver Cuts Off Tractor Trailer Causes Rollover Crash on Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County

The Pennsylvania State Police are asking for anyone who has information about a crash that occurred Monday on Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the incident began around 3:45pm near mile marker 127.5 in the northbound lanes of Interstate 81 in Ryan Township.

The driver of a Freightliner, Dimitrius Garretson, 44, of Scranton, told Troopers that an erratic driver made several lanes changes and cut him off in the left travel lane.

Garretson swerved to the left to avoid the driver, exited the left berm, striking several feet of guide rail.  The tractor trailer then traveled down a 20 ft embankment flipping onto the driver's side.  The erratic driver continued on without stopping.

Garretson was able to escape the flipped rig on his own and was reported to have suffered minor injuries.

State Police did not have a description of the other vehicle involved but are asking anyone else who may have witnessed the incident or seen an erratic driver on Interstate 81 around that time to call the Frackville Barracks at (570) 874-5300.

Ryan Township Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
