Multi-Alarm Fire Destroys Several Mahanoy City Homes

Flames tore through several Mahanoy City homes Friday evening.

Just before 8:00pm, Friday, emergency personnel were called to 132 East Mahanoy Street, Mahanoy City for a working structure fire.

As the first fire personnel arrived on scene, they found heavy fire in the rear of the home and a 2nd alarm with entrapment was issued.

All occupants would be accounted for with one person sustaining minor injuries not related to the fire.

The fire would hit 3-Alarms with a tanker task force as it quickly spread from the address at 132 East Mahanoy through several homes to 138 East Mahanoy.

Units would respond from all around Schuylkill County whether to respond to the scene or cover units that responded.

Firefighters battled the fire over an hour before bringing it under control.

According to the Mahanoy City Fire Department, over a dozen people were impacted by the fire and the American Red Cross was at the scene assisting.

Several pets were reported to have died in the fire.

As of 10:00pm, the cause of the fire was not determined, and a State Police Fire Marshal was called in to investigate.
