Pottsville Mayor Announces Appointment of New Chief of Police

On Friday, Pottsville Mayor Dave Clews announced the appointment of a new Chief of Police after Chief Wojciechowsky's retirement.

According to a press release from the City on Friday morning, John R. Morrow has been appointed and will officially take the position on Tuesday, October 25th, 2022.  Chief Wojciechowsky's retirement was official on Friday, October 21st, 2022.

Morrow has worked as law enforcement for the City since 1991 when he was hired as a Patrolman.  Over the years, Morrow held the ranks of Corporal, Sergeant, and the Supervisor of Narcotics Investigations Unit.  In 2014, he was promoted to the rank of Captain which include the responsibility of the Patrol Division operations and special events.

"I look forward to a smooth transition and no loss of Police Protection in the City.  After working with Chief Morrow for years with the Pottsville Business Association events and the Great Pottsville Cruise, I am confident the Pottsville Police Department is in good hands and will continue to progress", said Mayor Clews.

Chief Morrow is the son of Naomi Morrow Ost and the late John Morrow.  He is a 1982 graduate of the Schuylkill Haven Area School District and currently resides in North Manheim Township with his wife, Valerie, and sons, Zachary and Adam.
