Woman Facing Charges After Leading Police in Pursuit on Burma Road and Crashing

A woman from York County is facing charges after leading police in a several mile-long pursuit on the Burma Road and crashing in Ryan Township on Saturday.

According to Saint Clair Police, on Saturday, November 19th, 2022, Borough Police were dispatched to the intersection of West Russell Street and South Third Street for a motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival of police, one of the vehicles involved in the crash, driven by Mariah Elizabeth Wolgamuth, 24, of York, fled the scene.

Officers pursued the vehicle over the Burma Road until Mahanoy City Police were waiting on the other side with spike strips causing her to crash.

A Mahanoy Township Police vehicle was also damaged in the crash.

Police took Wolgamuth into custody and found a 3-year-old child in the rear seat.  The child was taken to the hospital for medical care.

St. Clair Police charged Wolgamuth with felony endangering the welfare of children and fleeing or attempting to elude police, misdemeanor accidents involving damage and 6 summary traffic violations.

The incident closed the Burma Road for several hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
