No Injuries Reported in Rollover near Girardville

A man walked away uninjured after a crash near Girardville on Monday afternoon.

Around 4:15pm, Monday, emergency personnel from Girardville and Ashland responded to a motor vehicle accident with rollover and entrapment in the area of the Y intersection in Homesville, Butler Township on the west end of Girardville.

In the crash, the driver of a Ford Utility Truck, lost control heading eastbound on Route 54, went off the roadway, and struck the end of a guardrail.

The truck overturned onto the driver's side and slid approximately 100 feet before coming to a stop.

Girardville Firefighters from the Ranger's Hose Company and Girard Hose responded and help the driver climb out of the vehicle.  The Washington Rescue arrived on scene but cleared shortly after.

Mahanoy City EMS also responded to the scene.

The cause of the crash was under investigation by Butler Township Police.  Early indications were the crash was caused by diesel fuel that was visible on the road in the area.

Route 54 was closed in the area while the scene was cleared, but remained closed for a period of time afterwards for PennDOT to investigate the origin of the diesel fuel.
