A truck driver and his passenger were not injured after a crash along Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County on Friday.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Jonestown, the crash occurred on Friday, March 3rd, 2023, around 5:00pm on Interstate 81 at mile marker 104.5 in Tremont Township near the Ravine Exit.

Police say Ford Explorer, driven by Ronald Petrie, 57, of Steelton, was traveling southbound in the left lane, while a Tractor Trailer, driven by Thomas Bennett, 22, of Greensboro, NC, was traveling in the right lane.

Troopers say Petrie was unable to maintain control of the SUV due to weather conditions and struck the left side of the tractor trailer.

As a result, the tractor trailer went off the right side of the roadway, over the bridge, landing truck first on Mollystown Road, leaving the trailer hung up on the bridge.

Bennett, and his passenger in the tractor trailer, were not injured.

Petrie, and the two passengers in the SUV all sustained minor injuries and were transported to an area hospital by Tremont Ambulance.

Everyone involved in the crash was reported to have been wearing their seatbelts.

Petrie will be cited for the crash.
