Frackville Man Charged for Damaging a Vehicle with an Axe


A Frackville man is facing charges for allegedly damaging a vehicle parked on his property earlier this month.

According to Frackville Police, on Thursday, September 7, 2023, around 9:45pm, Frackville Police received a complaint of damage to a vehicle, a white 2018 Ford F150 pickup truck, while parked in the parking lot of the OIP restaurant at 44 South Lehigh Ave. in Frackville. 

Initially, it appeared as though his vehicle was struck by another vehicle however, upon further examination, several areas of damage were found. The damage appeared to be caused by a cutting instrument or pointed object.

Through investigation, it was determined that Rosario Amato, 55 of Frackville, struck the vehicle several times with an axe causing $8,653.93 in damage. 

Police said Amato was upset due to the vehicle being parked on his property.

Amato was charged with one felony 3 count of criminal mischief by Ptlm. Joe Murton. Amato was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli and released on $30,000 unsecured bail.
