Pottsville Hosts Annual Memorial Day Mile with 123 Runners Competing

The Memorial Day Mile brought a festive and reflective start to the holiday on Monday, May 26, 2025. Hosted by the Pottsville Recreation Committee in partnership with Minersville Track and Field, the event drew 123 runners of all ages, celebrating health, heritage, and hometown pride.

Families, friends, and community members gathered early to honor the spirit of Memorial Day through fitness and fellowship. From toddlers in their first race to seasoned veterans chasing personal bests, the event welcomed runners from across Schuylkill County and beyond.

Vanessa Frasnelli and Kolin Long were named the overall female and male winners, respectively. Dale Schneck was awarded the Mayor’s Cup, which is presented each year based on a special formula that weighs age, gender, and finishing time.
