Two Suspects in Custody Following Stolen Vehicle Pursuit Spanning Schuylkill and Luzerne Counties; Two Suspects at Large

A police pursuit involving a stolen vehicle early Wednesday morning resulted in two arrests, with additional suspects still at large as the investigation continues.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Hazleton, the incident began around 3:55 AM on June 18, 2025, when Mahanoy City Police officers located an occupied vehicle that had been reported stolen the previous day to PSP Hazleton. When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle fled, sparking a pursuit that crossed into neighboring Luzerne County.

The pursuit ended when the fleeing vehicle lost control while attempting to navigate the ramp from Interstate 81 Northbound onto Interstate 80 Eastbound. The vehicle crashed, prompting the four occupants to flee the scene on foot.

A quick search of the area led to the capture of two of the suspects. An adult male was located and taken into custody without incident in a nearby wooded area. A juvenile male was also apprehended without resistance in a heavily wooded area situated between the eastbound and westbound lanes of Interstate 80.

Authorities from the Troop N Criminal Investigation Unit are continuing their search for the remaining suspects.

The investigation remains active, and police are urging anyone with information related to the incident to contact PSP Hazleton at 570-459-3890.

The identities of the suspects in custody or still on the run have not been released.
