For more than 70 years, Mrs. T’s has proudly spelled “Pierogy” with a “Y,” and this fall, the Schuylkill County brand is inviting fans to join in on the tradition.
In celebration of National Pierogy Day on October 8, Mrs. T’s has launched its new “Rep the Y” campaign, giving one lucky fan the chance to win $10,000.
Beginning October 1, fans can visit @mrstspierogies on Instagram and pledge to swap an “I” in their name for a “Y” — or simply add a “Y” — to show their support for the brand’s iconic spelling. For example, “Kim” could become “Kym,” or “Joe” might change to “Joey.”
In addition to the grand prize, participants will have the chance to score exclusive merchandise and bragging rights as Mrs. T’s official MVP — Most Valuable Pierogy-Lover.
“Just like Jordyns, Khrystynas, Brittanys, and Amandas-with-a-Y, who may never find their name on a souvenir keychain but proudly own their unique spelling, Mrs. T’s has always celebrated individuality,” the company noted in its campaign announcement.
National Pierogy Day, recognized every October 8, pays tribute to the comfort food that has become a household staple across the country. Mrs. T’s, headquartered in Shenandoah, is the largest producer of frozen pierogies in the United States and has made the dish a celebrated tradition for families nationwide.
