NORWEGIAN TOWNSHIP - A crash has closed Route 61 southbound near Pottsville on Monday morning.
The incident occurred just after 7:00am, when a tractor trailer crashed into a ditch along Route 61 southbound just south of the Fairlane Village Mall.
Pottsville fire personnel arrived on scene, requested a heavy tow and advised that Route 61 southbound would need to be closed because it was blocking both lanes.
Fire police were called and have closed the highway at the Ann Street intersection near St. Clair.
Details on the crash or how it occurred were not available. The highway is expected to be closed for an extended period of time.
