Ashland Man Charged After Disturbance, Knife Threats, and Tire Slashing

An Ashland man is facing multiple charges after State Police responded to a disturbance in the borough earlier this month.
According to court records, Daniel T. Leary Jr., 46, of Ashland, has been charged with terroristic threats, simple assault, criminal mischief, and harassment in connection with an incident that occurred on the evening of October 12, 2025.

Troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police Frackville Barracks were called to 935 Centre Street in Ashland Borough around 8:15 p.m. for a report of an active disturbance.

Police say the victim told troopers that Leary, who is the ex-boyfriend of his current girlfriend, entered the residence and started a verbal argument. The confrontation reportedly escalated into a physical altercation, during which the victim claims Leary shoved him and struck him, causing visible injury to his face.

The victim further alleged that after leaving the home, Leary slashed the front passenger-side tire of his vehicle with a knife. The victim told police that Leary then threatened him, saying, “Next time you’re gonna get gut,” before fleeing the scene.

Troopers later located Leary around 9:00 p.m. at a nearby garage. Police say he refused to come out for questioning but admitted being upset with how the victim was treating his ex-girlfriend. Leary claimed the victim had attacked him first and denied damaging the tire.

Following the investigation, charges were filed against Leary, including:
  • Terroristic Threats with Intent to Terrorize Another (M1)
  • Simple Assault (M2)
  • Criminal Mischief – Damage to Property (Summary Offense)
  • Harassment – Subject Another to Physical Contact (Summary Offense)
Leary is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on November 26, 2025, before Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli.
