Man Charged with Trespassing in Shenandoah Borough

A man has been charged following a late-night trespassing incident in Shenandoah Borough last week.
James Barbazote, 49, was arraigned on Friday, October 17, 2025, by Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker.

According to court documents, Barbazote faces three charges:
  • Criminal Trespass – Break Into Structure (F2)
  • Defiant Trespass – Fenced/Enclosed (M3)
  • Loitering and Prowling at Night Time (M3)
The charges stem from an incident on October 16, 2025. Around 11:10 p.m., a Shenandoah resident reported seeing a man and woman enter the yard of a home on East Penn Street. When confronted, the two individuals left the area.

Police later obtained security footage from the Shenandoah Community Ambulance Association, which showed a man identified as Barbazote attempting to enter the residence by manipulating the front door after opening the exterior screen. Neighbors reportedly scared him off when they heard the commotion.

Investigators stated they were familiar with Barbazote due to prior encounters. Authorities noted that Barbazote is currently homeless, as his last residence in Shenandoah has since been demolished.

Barbazote was taken into custody and arraigned the following day.  He was later released upon bail being set at $15,000 unsecured.
