Troopers Arrest Ashland Woman After Knife-Wielding Confrontation With Family

ASHLAND - An Ashland woman is facing a long list of charges after Pennsylvania State Police say she threatened family members with multiple knives during a domestic incident Tuesday night.
According to court documents, Esmarlyn N. Santos Ramos, 19, of Ashland, was charged with three counts of terroristic threats, three counts of simple assault, one count of possession of a weapon, and harassment following the September 30th incident.

Troopers from the Frackville barracks were dispatched to a home in the 700 Block of Brock Street in Ashland Borough around 7:57 p.m. for a reported domestic dispute involving a knife.

When police arrived, they spoke with family members who said Ramos had been arguing with her boyfriend and prevented him from leaving the home by grabbing him by the shirt. Family members intervened, allowing the boyfriend to leave.

Investigators say Ramos then went into the kitchen, retrieved a knife, and threatened to kill her brothers and father if they interfered. She demanded her boyfriend’s belongings and later left the residence carrying multiple knives.

Police encountered Ramos on South 2nd Street. Despite repeated commands to stop, she continued walking before pulling four large kitchen knives from her waistband and throwing them to the ground. Troopers were then able to take her into custody without further incident. While being detained, Ramos allegedly stated multiple times, “I want to fight.”

She was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Andrew Serina and committed to Schuylkill County Prison on $50,000 straight cash bail.
