According to the Butler Township Police Department, officers were dispatched around 5:10 p.m. on April 8, 2026, to the intersection of Ogden Street and Julia Street in Girardville for a report of a disturbance in progress.
Police say the incident began as a verbal argument that turned physical, with one male being struck in the head and knocked to the ground. The victim was transported to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for treatment.
During the investigation, officers learned that a second altercation followed. Authorities allege that a man, later identified as Zachary Catizone, 37, exited a nearby garage and discharged a shotgun toward three individuals. All three victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries, were treated at the scene, and released.
Catizone was taken into custody without incident.
He was arraigned before Anthony Kilker in Shenandoah, where bail was denied. Catizone was committed to Schuylkill County Prison.
Police report that Catizone is charged with:
- Three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
- Three counts of simple assault
- Three counts of reckless endangerment
- One count of propulsion of a missile into an occupied vehicle
A preliminary hearing will be scheduled at a later date before Edward Tarantelli in Frackville.
