According to court documents, Francis Richard Golab III, 44, was charged by Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven following an incident that began just before 10:00pm on April 5, 2026.
Troopers say they observed a motorcycle traveling north on Center Avenue (SR 443) in Schuylkill Haven displaying a registration plate that did not match the vehicle. When police attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the operator allegedly accelerated, leading to a pursuit.
Police said the motorcycle traveled through Schuylkill Haven Borough and into North Manheim Township, at times entering the oncoming lane of traffic, failing to stop at multiple stop signs, and disregarding traffic signals and speed limits.
The pursuit ended when the motorcycle came to a stop at the intersection of West Mountain Road and Seven Stars Road in North Manheim Township. Golab was taken into custody at that time.
During the investigation, troopers reported locating drug paraphernalia and suspected controlled substances, including a crystal-like substance, marijuana, and a white powder. Three capped syringes were also found, one containing apparent blood. Police also stated Golab showed signs of impairment, including dilated pupils, rapid speech, and glassy, bloodshot eyes. He later consented to chemical testing, and blood samples were collected at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Schuylkill East.
Golab has been charged with:
- Fleeing or attempting to elude police (felony)
- Driving under the influence of a controlled substance
- Possession of a controlled substance (two counts)
- Possession of marijuana (small amount)
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Multiple summary traffic violations, including driving while suspended, operating an unregistered vehicle, and reckless driving-related offenses
He was arraigned early Monday, April 6, 2026, before on-call Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker and committed to Schuylkill County Prison on $10,000 straight cash bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 14, 2026, before Magisterial District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek in Orwigsburg.
