Schuylkill County Woman Killed in Carbon County Crash; Driver Suspected of DUI


One person was killed and two others were injured in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in Carbon County, according to Pennsylvania State Police at Hazleton.
The crash occurred around 12:16 a.m. on June 6, 2026, along the 50 block of Main Street (Route 4004) in Banks Township.

According to the crash report, a 2011 Honda CR-V was traveling westbound on Main Street when the driver, identified as Endy Rodriguez Sanchez, 21, of Beaver Meadows, began to lose control after entering a curve. Troopers said the vehicle crossed into the opposing lane of travel, and the driver attempted to correct the vehicle's path.

The vehicle crossed back over the westbound lane and onto the shoulder before traveling down a small embankment, where it struck several trees. After impacting the trees, the SUV spun counterclockwise and rolled onto the driver's side before coming to a final rest.

Police said there were two passengers inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Perla M. Decena Castillo, 19, of McAdoo, was seated on the lap of the driver when the crash occurred. Troopers reported she became trapped beneath the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second passenger, Francisco D. Heronimo, 28, sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton for treatment.

Rodriguez Sanchez also suffered suspected minor injuries and was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton.

The crash was investigated by Pennsylvania State Police, who noted in their report that the driver is suspected of driving under the influence. No charges have been announced.

Assisting at the scene were the McAdoo Fire Company, Lehigh Valley Health Network EMS-Hazleton, Carbon County Fire Police, Schuylkill County Fire Police, Paul’s Towing, and the Carbon County Coroner’s Office.

The investigation remains ongoing.
