One Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on West Market Street in Pottsville

A two-vehicle crash Monday evening in Pottsville left one driver with apparent minor injuries and both vehicles with disabling damage.
According to Pottsville Police, officers were dispatched around 5:03 p.m. Monday, August 17, to the 2200 block of West Market Street for a report of a two-vehicle crash.

Police said their investigation determined that Hoang Nguyen, 39, of Minersville, was driving a 2017 Toyota RAV4 eastbound on West Market Street when he attempted to make a left turn into the parking lot at Hadesty's.

While making the turn, Nguyen reportedly traveled into the path of a westbound 2004 Honda Civic driven by a 19-year-old Pottsville man.

Police noted that the Honda was reportedly being driven without its headlights on despite rainy conditions at the time of the crash.

The 19-year-old driver was evaluated by EMS at the scene and later sought additional treatment at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Schuylkill E. Norwegian Street for apparent minor injuries.

Nguyen and his 12-year-old passenger reported no injuries.

Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene.

Pottsville Fire Department and Minersville Police assisted Pottsville Police at the scene.

Police said the crash remains under investigation.
