Pottsville Police are warning customers to check their accounts after officers discovered a credit card skimming device at a Family Dollar store Monday evening.
Skimmer Found at Pottsville Family Dollar
Police responded to the Family Dollar at 1013 West Market Street in Pottsville at approximately 6:30 p.m. on .
During the investigation, officers found a skimming device attached to the payment kiosk at register No. 1, according to police.
About 33 Transactions Recorded
Investigators determined that the device had been in place since approximately 4:27 p.m. Police said about 33 transactions occurred between that time and the arrival of officers.
Authorities did not say whether any customers’ credit or debit card information had been compromised.
Customers Asked to Check Their Accounts
Police are asking customers who used a card at the store to review their accounts for unauthorized or fraudulent activity.
Anyone who notices suspicious activity after using a card at the Pottsville Family Dollar should contact the Pottsville Bureau of Police at 570-622-1234.
Police also urged the public to remain alert for other possible credit card skimming devices in the area.
Police Release Persons of Interest
Police released photos of individuals described as persons of interest in the investigation. No charges have been announced in connection with the incident.
