Schuylkill County: 2021 in Photos


We took a lot of photos in 2021. Here are 12, one from each month, of some of the more positive stories we covered throughout the year.

January 2021

On January 17th, 2021, Bernadine "Bernie" Chupasko, of Girardville turned 90 years and all of her friends helped her celebrate with a parade.

February 2021

On February 3rd, 2021, Schuylkill County was digging out of almost 2 feet of snow.  The storm closed school for 2 days and even grocery stores.



March 2021

On March 7th, 2021, the Special Olympics held a "Polar Pop".  On typical year, they would hold a polar plunge but COVID changed their plans.



April 2021

In the beginning of April, Dustin's Adventureland held the Skook Easter Bunny Tour 2.0.  The Easter Bunny visited 15 Schuylkill County communities over the span of 2 days.



May 2021

On Saturday, May 15th, 2021, the annual Pottsville Soap Box Derby was held.



June 2021

After closing during the COVID-19 pandemic, on June 10th, 2021, Tony's Lunch in Girardville reopened with hundreds of people lining up outside waiting for their Screamers.



July 2021

On July 20th, 2021, WNEP's Joe Snedeker several stops in Schuylkill County including Shenandoah to end his day with his friends from Mrs. T's Pierogies.



August 2021

Several Schuylkill County communities held National Night Out events on August 3rd, 2021.  One of those communities was Mahanoy City.  In this photo, we captured Patrolman Thomas Rentschler having fun with a little girl.



September 2021

On Saturday, September 11th, 2021, hundreds of Schuylkill County Firefighters participated in the Schuylkill County Firefighters Convention.



October 2021

On Saturday, October 9th, 2021, the Yuengling Light Lager Jogger was held in Pottsville.



November 2021

On Black Friday, November 26th, 2021, Shenandoah kicked off the holiday season with their annual tradition with Santa arriving in the borough.  The jolly old elf was scheduled to skydive into Veteran's Stadium at Shenandoah Valley but arrived via helicopter due to the weather.



December 2021

On Tuesday, December 21st, 2021, Ed Kane, of Ashland continued his annual tradition of handing out candy canes to his friends in the borough.
