Firefighters responded to a garage fire in Mahanoy City on Saturday afternoon.
Around 1:30pm, emergency personnel were called to 1138 East Mahanoy Avenue for a vehicle on fire inside of a garage.
As Fire Chief Dan Markiewicz and Borough Police arrived on scene, they found a fully involved garage on fire that was connected to a home.
Chief Markiewicz credited the quick response by firefighters who were able to bring the fire under control in less than a half an hour.
The garage, a trailer, and a pickup truck sustained heavy damage from the fire.
Chief Markiewicz said the homeowner told him that he was working on a truck inside the garage, and while he was welding, something caught fire. The fire was ruled accidental.
