Leesport Man in Custody for Allegedly Sexually Assaulting a Schuylkill County Teen

A Berks County man is in custody on charges for sexually assault a Pottsville Teen.

Last week, the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven reported that Troopers received a report that a 15-year-old girl from Pottsville was sexually assaulted by Christopher Michael Snyder, 34, of Leesport in May of 2023 without her consent.

Based on the findings of the investigation, on November 29th, 2023, an arrest warrant was obtained, and the public was requested to aide in assisting in Snyder's whereabouts.

According to an update Monday morning from the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, Snyder was taken into custody in Berks County on Monday, December 4th, 2023.  He waived extradition and was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge David Rossi on multiple counts of charges of corruption of minors, rape, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, and furnishing minor to a minor.

Snyder was then transported to Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $75,000 straight cash bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled before Judge Rossi on December 14th, 2023.
