Teen Killed, 6 Others Injured in Route 209 Crash near Williamstown

A teen was killed, and 6 others were injured in a crash near the Dauphin/Schuylkill County line on Route 209 on Sunday.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Lykens, the crash occurred around 4:15pm, Sunday on Route 209 in Williams Township, near Williamstown near the intersection with Berry Road.  The crash occurred approximately 2 miles from the Schuylkill/Dauphin County border.

A report from Troopers stated the crash occurred when a 17-year-old male from Gratz was traveling east on Route 209 in a Chevrolet Malibu and crossed into the oncoming lane and struck Dana Battersby, 45, of Lykens in a Ford Escape.

The 17-year-old sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Dauphin County Coroner's Office.

Battersby, as well as her passengers, James Artz, 46, of Lykens, and 4 children ages, 8, 10, 12, and 14 were also severely injured and transported to Penn State Hershey Medical Center.

Everyone involved in the crash was reported to be wearing their seatbelts.

Sources and friends of the family tell Skook News that the 4 children involved in the crash were from Schuylkill County and attended school here.

Local organizations and businesses have already announced they are collecting for the family.
