A 10-year-old girl riding her bicycle was injured Monday evening in a collision with a pickup truck at a Girardville intersection, according to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville.
The crash occurred at approximately 5:45 p.m. on August 4, 2025, at the intersection of North William Street and West Oak Street in Girardville Borough.
Troopers say a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado, operated by Kelly Deiter of Girardville, was traveling west on West Oak Street when Deiter failed to yield at a stop sign. The vehicle entered the intersection and struck the girl, who was riding her bicycle northbound on North William Street.
According to the report, the front wheel of the girl’s bicycle struck the trailer area of the Silverado. The impact caused her to come to an uncontrolled rest in the roadway. She was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was transported by Washington Community Ambulance to Lehigh Valley East Hospital with injuries of unknown severity.
Deiter was not injured and was able to drive the vehicle from the scene.
Police cited Deiter for failing to yield at a stop sign and operating a vehicle without valid inspection.
A witness was present at the time of the incident. State Police were assisted at the scene by both Washington Community Ambulance and Shenandoah Ambulance.
