Fatal Crash on Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County Claims Life of Kingston Man

Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Tuesday afternoon, September 2, 2025, on Interstate 81 northbound in Butler Township.
The crash happened around 2:24 p.m. in the area of mile marker 119.4.

According to investigators, a 2013 GMC Acadia, driven by 81-year-old Esau Foster, of Kingston, Pennsylvania, was traveling northbound behind a 1992 Kenworth tractor-trailer operated by Keith Musselman Jr., 61, of Harrison, Ohio.

Police say Foster’s vehicle was straddling both northbound lanes when it struck the rear driver’s side tire of the tractor-trailer. Following the impact, the Acadia rolled several times before coming to rest in the grass median facing east.

Foster was extricated from his vehicle and transported by Frackville Community Ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital–Schuylkill East. He was later flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest, where he succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced deceased by the Lehigh Valley Coroner’s Office.

Musselman, the driver of the tractor-trailer, was not injured.
