Driver and Two Dogs Escape Unhurt in Butler Township Crash

No injuries were reported following a single-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon near Girardville.

Just before 2 p.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to the intersection of Homesville Road and West Mahanoy Avenue in Butler Township for a reported motor vehicle crash with possible entrapment.

According to authorities, a Chevrolet Caprice failed to stop at the intersection and traveled up an embankment, leaving the vehicle in a precarious position.

The driver was initially unable to exit the vehicle due to how it came to rest but was able to get out on his own without injury. Two dogs that were traveling in the vehicle were also uninjured.

Police from Butler Township and Ashland responded to the scene, along with the Rangers Hose Company and Girard Hose Company of Girardville. Firefighters assisted with traffic control and helped ensure the dogs were kept safe while crews worked at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by Butler Township Police.
