Pottsville Police Accepting Police Officer Applications

The POTTSVILLE BUREAU OF POLICE will be offering a remote testing opportunity for police officer applicants on Saturday, July 9, 2022.

The test can be completed online by eligible applicants at any time on the day of the testing. Any applicant who successfully reaches the background investigation part of the hiring process will be required to participate in a polygraph test during which the applicant will need to affirm that the written test was completed by the applicant without the assistance of other persons and/or outside resources.

Applicants who pass this written test will have their score recorded on the City of Pottsville Civil Service hiring eligibility list for up to two years from the test date. Applicants may retake the test at any future offered time with their highest test score always being used for ranking and eligibility purposes. A POST study guide is available for applicant purchase at www.applytoserve.com/study .

Please note: Applicants who are on the hiring eligibility list prior to July 9, 2022 will remain ranked according to their most recent written test score until two years from their previous test date if they choose not to retake the written test.

The cost of the testing is $40.00 and applications can be obtained by emailing policerecords@city.pottsville.pa.us, calling 570-622-1234 Ext. 315, or visiting the police records office at Pottsville city hall M-F 0800-1600. Only applicants who have submitted the proper completed application and payment no later than July 2, 2022 will be eligible to participate.

Completed applications can be mailed with the required fee or electronically submitted with payment sent separately. Checks and Money Orders should be addressed to “City of Pottsville”.

Applicants who achieve a passing score of 75% or higher on the written examination shall be eligible to proceed with additional steps in the hiring process. These steps will include physical fitness testing as per current MPOETC guidelines, an oral interview, an extensive background investigation, and medical and psychological examinations.
