Three individuals were taken into custody Saturday after a stolen vehicle pursuit that began in Schuylkill County and ended in Hamburg Borough, Berks County.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Hamburg, the incident occurred around 3:50 p.m. on March 7, 2026, along State Route 61 near Cabela Drive in Tilden Township, Berks County.
Troopers said information was received from the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven that three males were reportedly breaking into vehicles in the Orwigsburg area of Schuylkill County and had stolen a vehicle.
The stolen vehicle, identified as a Chevrolet Equinox, was later spotted traveling southbound on Route 61 near Cabela’s by a state trooper from the Hamburg barracks. When the trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver failed to stop and a pursuit began.
The pursuit continued along Route 61 into Windsor Township before coming to an end in Hamburg Borough. All three occupants fled the vehicle on foot but were quickly taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit.
State police identified the suspects as:
- Stemo Leopol, 19, of Irvington, New Jersey
- Rushann Daley, 19, of Bronx, New York
- A 16-year-old juvenile from Bronx, New York, whose name was not released
Daley was arraigned and committed to Berks County Prison on $1,000,000 bail.
Both were transported to the Berks County Central Processing Center for arraignment before being housed at Berks County Prison.
The 16-year-old juvenile was transported to the Abraxas Academy, where he is currently being held.
Authorities said additional charges are pending in Schuylkill County related to the vehicle break-ins.
Troopers were assisted by Tilden Township Police Department and Hamburg Borough Police Department during the incident.
