Police Looking for Man Wanted for Assault

A man is wanted by police for an assault earlier this month.

According to Pottsville Police, on Sunday, June 18, 2017 around 4:50pm, a 37 year old Pottsville woman contacted the Police to report that her husband, Braxton Moore, 34, had assaulted her throughout the day at 480 N. Claude A Lord Blvd., the Pottsville Motor Inn in Room 104.

The woman told officers that an argument between the two had led to Moore placing his hand over her throat, causing her to lose consciousness several times. Moore also reportedly struck the victim in the face with his hand, wrapped a sheet around her neck, used a belt to strike her back and legs, and drug her by the hair to the bathroom and began splashing water on her.

Police observed multiple injuries on the woman consistent with the report, which included: a red mark about two inches long on her neck, a bruise on her right check and one directly under her right eye, and a red mark on her eye ball.

Moore had left the area prior to police being notified and was last known to be in the Port Carbon area.

Patrolman Joel Methven prepared a criminal complaint charging Moore with Strangulation, Domestic Violence,  Simple Assault, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.

An arrest warrant was issued for Moore and anyone with information on his current location is asked to call the Pottsville Bureau of Police at 570-628-3792.
