FEMA Awards Grants to Schuylkill County Fire Companies


On Thursday, Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-09) announced that the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency awarded more than $1 million to 11 fire departments across Pennsylvania's Ninth Congressional District through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program. 

The projects funded through these grants will provide for professional training, wellness and fitness programs, personal protective equipment, modifications to facilities, and supplies that support firefighting and non-affiliated EMS operations and safety.

The following departments received funding in Schuylkill County

  • North End Fire Company, Pine Grove, $164,000
  • Sheppton Oneida Volunteer Fire Company, Sheppton, $17,142.85
  • Ravine Fire Company, Pine Grove, $78,500
  • Ryan Township Fire Company, Barnesville, $107,014.28
Also receiving funding within the 9th District were:
  • Strausstown Volunteer Fire Company #1, Bernville, $30,000
  • Atlas Fire Company, Mount Carmel, $39,809.52
  • Muhlenberg Township Fire & Rescue, Inc., Temple, $387,431.81
  • Glen Lyon-Alden Volunteer Hose Company, Newport Township, $65,476.19
  • Sugarloaf Fire Company Inc., Sugarloaf, $30,476.19
  • Navesink Fire Company, Lebanon, $47,619.04
  • Lehigh & Lausanne Rural Volunteer Fire Company, Weatherly, $105.333.33

Congressman Meuser Secures Over $6 Million in Funding for 3 Schuylkill County Projects


Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate have passed legislation that includes $14.2 million in federal funding for eight community projects in Pennsylvania’s Ninth District.

More than $1.3 Million in Grants Awarded to Schuylkill County Fire and EMS


On Thursday, the office of the Pennsylvania State Fire Commissioner announced that 86 Schuylkill County fire departments and EMS companies will soon be receiving grants from the annual Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service Grant Program.

Alvernia Awarded Pennsylvania RACP Grant to Renovate Former Giant for CollegeTowne Pottsville


Alvernia University announced on Wednesday that the college has received a $3 million grant from the Pennsylvania Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) to renovate its newly secured downtown Pottsville location at 500 Progress Avenue, for their Pottsville CollegeTowne strategy.

$2 Million Grant Awarded for Construction of New Tamaqua Police Station and Community Center


On Monday, Tamaqua Area Community Partnership Inc. was awarded $2 million for construction of Tamaqua’s new police station and community center through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP), announced Rep.
