Jordan Brothers Museum to Open

The Times News announced Sunday that a Jordan Brothers Museum will open in Frackville.


The museum is scheduled to open November 22nd at the Frackville Borough Complex at 42 South Center Street.

Ford Recalling Almost 129,000 Vehicles

Ford Motor Company is issuing a safety recall for approximately 129,000 2009-2010 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles in corrosion states and provinces in North America for possible corrosion under the reinforcement brackets where the fuel tank is mounted to the vehicle. This condition might result in a fuel odor, fuel leak or a check engine light. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire.


Ford is not aware of any accidents, injuries or fires related to this condition.

Affected vehicles include certain 2009-2010 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles built at Oakville Assembly Plant Sept. 11, 2008 through July 1, 2010. These vehicles are currently registered or were originally sold in Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Quebec.

There are a total of 128,823 vehicles that might be affected in North America, including 110,636 in the United States and federalized territories and 18,187 in Canada.

Dealers will inspect the fuel tank and either repair or replace it at no cost to the customer.

Heavy rain is crossing Schuylkill County prompting a flood advisory.

Runaway Blimp Causes Power Outages in Schuylkill and Columbia Counties

The military blimp that made National News Wednesday is said to have caused the power outages in Schuylkill County as it descended over the area.

Woman and 2 Children Taken to Hospital for Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Tuesday

Around 4:30pm Tuesday, emergency personnel were called to the 100 block of Orwigsburg Street, Tamaqua for a carbon monoxide investigation.

Police arrived and reportedly found a man, and infant, and a 12 year old unconscious in the home along with a woman.

The homes power was reportedly shut off a few days earlier and the family was using a generator in the homes basement.

All 4 were removed from the home and the woman and children were taken to an area hospital suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Over 15,000 homes are currently without power in Schuylkill County Wednesday afternoon.

Orwigsburg Halloween Parade Cancelled



The Orwigsburg Lions Club announced Tuesday night that the Halloween Parade scheduled for Wednesday evening is cancelled due to the weather forecast.

No rain date is scheduled.

Ashland Pharmacy Robbed Tuesday Afternoon

Bracey Pharmacy, Centre Street, in Ashland was robbed Tuesday afternoon.

The robbery took place around 4:45pm.

The Republican Herald is reporting that a man entered the pharmacy with an object his sleeve and demanded  prescription medication.  The suspect then fled with a quantity of medication.

This will be the second robbery within the borough in just as many days.  Early Monday morning, the Turkey Hill on Centre Street was robbed as well.

Investigations are still ongoing for both robberies.

Anyone with information on either robbery should call the Schuylkill County Communication Center at (570) 462-1991.  All information will remain confidential.

Walgreen's to Buy Rite-Aid

Walgreen's announced Tuesday that they will be purchasing the Rite-Aid Company.

The merger will combine the 2nd and 3rd largest drug stores.

Rite Aid was purchased for 17.2 Billion Dollars.

The deal will still have to pass an antitrust review.

Woman Facing Charges After Allegedly Smuggling Marijuana into A Federal Prison

According to WFMZ,  Jennifer A. Mitchell, of  Normal, Illinois, is facing charges after she allegedly tried to smuggle marijuana into the Schuylkill Federal Correctional Institution on Sunday.

Mitchell was sent to Schuylkill County Prison unable to post bail.

Schuylkill Haven Listening Session on the Clean Power Plan

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will hold a listening session on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, on the federal Clean Power Plan to reduce carbon emissions from power plants. DEP Secretary John Quigley will chair the session. The session will be from 6:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. at Penn State Schuylkill in Schuylkill Haven.

General Motors is recalling over 1 million vehicles for fire causing oil leaks.

Ashland Convenient Store Robbed Early Monday Morning

The Ashland Turkey Hill located on Centre Street in Ashland was robbed early Monday.

Just after between 3:30 and 4:00am, the suspect entered the store and demanded money from the clerk.  Then ran off with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect was described as wearing a mask with a grey hoodie and black pants.
