Fire Safety, Emergency Services Focus of Shenandoah Night Out
On Saturday, Shenandoah held their 2nd Annual Community Night Out.For the second year in a row, the borough of Shenandoah came together to celebrate a "night out" that allowed citizens of Shenandoah to meet leaders, volunteers, and others that serve the community.
The event was hosted on East Washington Street next to the Shenandoah Ambulance Building and organized by the borough's emergency personnel.
Shenanodah emergency apparatus were parked along East Washington Street for families to check, climb inside, see their tools up close, and talk to volunteers.
Along with the fire apparatus, the Suburban Burn Prevention Fire Safety House was new this year. The house, which is provided by the Hazleton City Fire Department, allows fire personnel to demonstrate to children, how to escape a home if it catches fire.
The Shenandoah Ambulance Building was open providing free food as well as a CPR demonstration.
Officers from Shenandoah Police, along with the neighboring department from West Mahanoy township were available handing out free gun locks and other items.
New to the event this years was Medivac. The medical helicopter landed next to Shenandoah Manor was available to get an up close until around 5:00pm when it called to an emergency incident.
County organizations from Schuylkill 911, Sheriff's Office, Schuylkill Women in Crisis, SARCC, Clinical Outcome Group, and others were also available.
Fun for the children included crafts with the Shenandoah Borough Recreation Committee and a bounce house.
