Students Mail Letters to Santa
On Friday, In keeping with the annual holiday tradition, North Schuylkill Elementary School’s Kindergarten classes mailed their letters to Santa Claus.

Jenna Lynn Milkovits, 42, of Kaup Avenue, Hometown, PA died on Thursday, December 1, 2016 in Coaldale, PA. She was the wife of Stephen J. Milkovits, III. Born in Hazleton, PA on April 26, 1974, Jenna was the daughter of David DeLay of Tamaqua, PA and Louise (nee Secone) Zeigler of Coaldale, PA. A 1992 graduate of Tamaqua High School, she currently was working for KidsPeace and also was a student at Lehigh Carbon Community College where she was studying for an Associate Degree. In addition to her husband and parents, Jenna is survived by her sons, Nathan and Aidan at home; half-brother, David DeLay; step brothers, Mark Beltz and Daniel Zeigler; step sisters, Anissa Nunemacher, Samantha Washousky, and Pamela Liebeck; aunts, Rose Mehalshick and her husband, Stephen "Murph" and Laura Gill and her husband, Tom; and several nephews and nieces. Robert (Bobby) Lewis, 72, of Mahanoy City, Pa, passed away Thursday, December 1st, suddenly at home.
Robert was born in Mahanoy City on July 10, 1944, a son of the late Eileen (McCoog) Lewis Killian and Alvin Lewis, and step father Joseph Killian.
He was a member of Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish Mahanoy City.
Bobby had graduated from Mahanoy Area Class of 1962 and earned an associates degree from Penn State University.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the Vietnam War era and had the honor of participating in the funeral of Gen Douglas Macarthur.
Bobby was a Dispatcher at Atlas Powder and Yellow Freight.
He was active with the Mahanoy City Travelers Protective Association of America early on. Bobby had also served on the Mahanoy City Borough Council for 3 terms from 2004 to 2015. He was also a life long member of the Humane Fire Co #1, in Mahanoy City.
Bobby was an avid Phillies, Eagles and Notre Dame fan and was extremely proud of his Coal Region heritage.
He was the husband of Dorothy (Sharaka) Lewis.
Robert is survived by a daughter, Robin Lewis, of Mahanoy City; a son, Christopher and wife Karen, of Oradell NJ; two brothers, Alvin, of Allentown; John “Sparky” Lewis of Mahanoy City; and by 3 grandchildren Patrick Lewis Finneran, Anna Lewis, and Brendan Lewis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Mahanoy City at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, December 6th, with Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher officiating with con celebrant Rev Bill Linchorst.
Friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 PM and Tuesday 9 AM at the Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. Mahanoy City.

Ann Marie was born in Mahanoy City, on November 17, 1945, a daughter of the late Florence (Dulsky) and Andrew Fizel.
She had graduated from Mahanoy Area High School class of 1963.
Marie had worked as a waitress at various restaurants in the Hazleton area including Franklin's and Carmen's.
She was a resident for a short time at St. Lukes Manor Hazleton, where she met a very good friend and roommate, Ellen Zola.
Marie is survived by 1 nephew Robert Fizel Jr. and nieces Denise Fizel, Lisa Cara, and Lori Zelasny.
She is preceded in death by three brothers Thomas, Robert and Andrew (Butchie) Fizel, and a niece Deborah Pajalich, and life time friend Gregory Randis.
Religious Service will be held at the Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Mahanoy City, PA, at 1 pm on Saturday, December 10th, with Reverend Joseph T. Whalen officiating.

George R. Laudeman, Sr., 88, of Orwigsburg, PA, formerly of Indian Run Road, New Ringgold, passed away Saturday, December 3rd, at Orwigsburg Center - Genesis Healthcare.
Born in Minersville, on September 21, 1928, a son of the late Kathryn (Newell) and Burton Turner Laudeman.
He was the widower of Marie Delaney Laudeman, and survived his second wife Elizabeth (Betty) A. (Tavish) Laudeman.
He was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church Schuylkill Haven, and attended Minersville High School
He served in the U.S. Army as a Cpl, stationed in Germany during the Korean War era.
George was the Founder & Operator of Laudeman Pest Control and the former co-owner & operator of Brady’s Seafood Bar and Restaurant Mckeansburg.
He was an avid hunter, Notre Dame Fan and a lifetime member of the NRA. He was a member of the Goodwill Fire Company, Minersville and Post 0144, Middleport Legion.
George is survived by

Also step-grandchildren, nieces, & nephews. He is also survived by his longtime companion Arlene Wertman.
He was predeceased by his grandson Brian & brother Burton Laudeman.

Born in Hegins, July 16, 1922, a daughter, of the late Joseph and Ida Shomper Heckert.
Violet was a graduate of the former Tower City High School She was retired from the former AMP, Inc. Tower City.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Tower City where she active with the quilting group. She was a former member of Tower City Women's Club.
Violet enjoyed sewing, spending time with her family, including sitting on the her back porch listening to music and singing. Violet enjoyed the last few years at her home with the love and care from her granddaughter Lisa Warren and Heather Bloch, which her family will be forever grateful.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, William Seiler, 1962 and Glenn Warren, 1997; a step-son, Glenn Warren Jr, 2007 and a sister Ardythe Murray, 2001.
Surviving are her children, William Seiler (Chris), Elizabethtown; Timothy Seiler (Eileen), Tower City; James Seiler (Colleen), Tower City; Mary Beth Hasbrouck, TX and Jane Corsnitz (Jim), Hummelstown; a step-daughter, Dora Somogynari, TN; a sister, Diane Schell, Downingtown; 18 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, niece and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December, 6th at 11:00 am from St. Peter's Lutheran Church with Rev. Warren Egebo. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Tower City. LCCC Open Additional Hours for Spring Registration

John F. “Johnny” Yagielniskie III, 31, Girardville, died peacefully Tuesday night at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville from complications due to infectious Endocarditis.
Born in Pottsville, he was the son of John F. Yagielniskie, Girardville and the late Linda Boyer . He was a 2003 graduate of the former Cardinal Brennan High School.
He had been employed as a stock clerk at Big Lots and throughout high school worked for Boyer’s Markets.
He was preceded in death by sister Mariana Yagielniskie, his step-mother Geraldine “ Grady “ Yagielniskie, his uncle Daniel Yagielniskie and his paternal grandfather John F. Yagielniskie, his maternal grandfather, Harold Boyer and maternal grandmother Nancy Schal.
In addition to his father he is survived by his grandmother Mary Tobias, Ashland, his sisters Melanie Grady, Shenandoah, Tanya Bennett, Gilberton and half sister Stacey Monterosso, Hazleton area, his half brother John Monterosso, Pottsville area, his niece and nephews; Adara, Chase and Keaton Daniel Scott Gilbert also by aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Saturday from the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Girardville. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Fountain Springs. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of service.

Franklin H. Long, Jr., 68, of Pottsville, passed away Tuesday, November 29th, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Schuylkill, S. Jackson St.
Franklin was born in Pottsville, on December 10, 1947, a son of the late I. Evona (Eckert) Long and Franklin H. Long, Sr.
He was formerly employed as a ticket agent at the bus terminal.
Franklin is survived by a cousin Carolyn (Eckert) Purnell wife of Thomas, Pottsville.
A graveside service will be held at Cressona Cemetery, Cressona, at 9:30 am on Monday, December 5th.

Born on July 7, 1952 in Pine Grove, she was a daughter of and Claire Hubler Rumpf of Pine Grove and the late Kenneth Rumpf.
Sharon was last employed as a Secretary for Stoltz Trucking .
Sharon loved being with her children, family, and her canine children, Blaze and Snickers. She enjoyed crocheting and baking.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her Husband, William D. Kohr, three children, Trisia Kohr and Kenneth Umbenhauer both of Tremont, Dawn Fidler of Pine Grove; nine grandchildren, Shawnee, Billie and Tiffany Kohr, Alyssa Arndt, Zoelle and Steven Strouphauer, Jayda, Naudia and Maddison Umbenhauer; two Great-Grandchildren, Serenity and Damien Loy; six Sisters, Suzi Maurer of Pine Grove, Sandie Jenkins of Tower City, Jane Yoder of Pine Grove, Missy Evans of North Carolina, Darlene Knepp of Grantville; and two brothers, Jeff Rumpf and Bruce Rumpf both of Pine Grove.
Memorial Services will be held at H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., on Wednesday, December 7, at 3:00 pm with SALM John Ziegler officiating. There will be a calling time from 2:00 P.M. until time of service at the Funeral Home.

Daniel J. Clark, Sr., 60, entered into eternal rest Sunday afternoon at his home with his wife of 41 years Theresa J. (Dieter) and his family by his side.
Born May 5, 1956 in Pottsville, he was the son of the late John and Rita (Eagan) Clark.
He was 1975 Graduate of Pottsville High School and a member of the former Mary Queen of Peace Roman Catholic and a current member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. He worked at TechCast Foundry, Myerstown.
In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by brothers John and Joseph Clark; sisters Germaine Schuettler and a baby sister Mary Ann.
He is survived by a son Daniel J. Clark, Jr., Pottsville; daughters Sherry A. Clark, Hershey and Melanie L. Clark, Pottsville; granddaughters Sienna Clark and Anika Holmes, both of Pottsville; brothers William Clark, Orwigsburg and Gerard Clark, Pottsville; sisters Maureen Adams, Pottsville, Patricia Helterbran, Pottsville, and Kathleen Reber, Minersville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 11AM Wednesday at Schiltzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home 515 West Market St. Pottsville. Family and friends may pay their respects Wednesday from 9 AM until the time of service. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville.

Mildred G. Hoffman passed away November 27, 2016 at Orwigsburg Center, Orwigsburg. Long-time resident of Schuylkill Haven and Port Clinton, she was born in Gordon, PA on August 2, 1931 to Rev. Mildred Hoffman & Earl G. Hoffman. A seamstress by trade, she owned her own shop in Port Clinton, Miss Mildred's Custom Draperies, and continued sewing until the end. She was a beloved aunt and grandmother figure to many, loved children and was in charge of the church nursery at the Church of the Nazarene in Schuylkill Haven. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Rev. Rose Hoffman & Marion Tolbard, and her brother, Earl Hoffman, Jr., Mimi, as she was affectionately called, is survived by main nieces & nephews, Angel Hoffman-Lorah, Sherry Haley, Patricia Berry, Maryann Sites, Penny Feveryear, Blair Tolbard, Jr., Brian Tolbard, Bradley Tolbard, Barrett Tolbard, and Steve Hoffman, as well as grand-nieces & grand-nephews. Palmer E. Kimmel, 75, former Ashland resident, passed away Saturday, November 26th, at the Broad Mountain Nursing Center, Frackville.
Born in Hegins Township, July 2, 1941, he was the son of the late Rufus and Laura Savage Kimmel. He attended Tri Valley High School, and served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam as a bridge construction expert.
Palmer was employed as an Exide battery builder for Northwest Industries, Hamburg, until his retirement.
He was a member of Christ’s United Lutheran Church, Airport Road, Ashland.
Preceding him in death were brothers, Daniel, Wilmer, and Melvin Kimmel, also sisters, Mary Kimmel and Carol Daily.

Susie is survived by her husband of 36 years, Matthew Berezwick, Mahanoy Plane; two sons: Keith and his wife Elizabeth Berezwick, New Ringgold and Kyle and his wife Megan Berezwick, Lake Hauto; Three sisters: Colleen and her husband Gary Petrewicz, Hummelstown, Joni and her husband Bobby Kitsock, Hummelstown, Janice and her husband Dave Kutchinsky of Frackville. Susie is also survived by a very special uncle, Bob McCann, Manville, NJ and numerous nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews.

PennDOT Warns of Thanksgiving Holiday Traffic Delays on I-81 in Schuylkill County
Motorists traveling on Interstate 81 north or south are advised to be alert for significant traffic delays over the Thanksgiving Day holiday weekend between Exit 90 (PA 72) and Exit 104 (PA 125) due to a highway construction project in Pine Grove and Tremont townships in Schuylkill County. I-81 north and south is reduced to a single lane in this area.

Ellen S. Murphy, 61, of Pottsville, passed away Saturday surrounded by her loving family at Lehigh Valley Hospital- East Norwegian.
Born February 2, 1955, in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late Harold L., Sr. and Ruth Philips Meisner.
Ellen was a member of the Eagles Club. She was beloved by all that knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harold L. Meisner, Jr.
She is survived by son Tom Murphy, daughter Colleen Murphy, granddaughters Morgan and Grace Murphy, sisters Judith Meisner, Ruth Ann Neal, Jane Meisner, and Nancy Becker.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Friday at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 W. Market St., Pottsville. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be private. Please visit SchlitzerAllenPugh.com to leave a condolence for the family.

Born Thursday, December 30, 1943 in Lom Poc, California, the son of the late Matthew Kaye, and Marion (Bonenburger) Kaye.
A 1961 graduate of Lansford High School, Ralph matriculated to East Stroudsburg College graduating in 1966 earning his B.S. in Education. Ralph, taught Social Studies at Stroudsburg High School for 28 years, and was a longtime football and track coach at East Stroudsburg High School.
As a youth Ralph spent many summers at Camp Greenwood and often reflected on those days being some of his most memorable.

Leona Selbi, 65, of Shenandoah died Sunday afternoon at Geisinger Medical Center Danville.
Leona was the daughter of the late Joseph Mack and Frances Kline Mack and was a lifelong resident of Shenandoah, having been graduated from Shenandoah High School class of 69.
She was a member of Divine Mercy Roman Catholic Parish Shenandoah.
She was preceded in death by a sister Frances Micklesavage and a brother Johnny Micklesavage
Leona is survived by her husband Thomas Selbi, Daughters Ramona Pomian of Carlisle, Frances Cook of Crystal River Fl and Helen Keating Orwigsburg. She has brothers Joseph Micklesavage of Mount Carmel and Edward Micklesavage of Lehighton. Her sister is Sharon Shaw of Shenandoah. There is a grandson Matthew Pomian as well as neices and nephews.
Friends my call Monday at Divine Mercy Parish Church from 9 am until mass of Christian burial at 10.
Interment in Annunciation Cemetery Shenandoah where a dove will be released in her memory.
Her family prefers donations to the Cancer Society

LCCC to Offer Online Winter Session Credit Classes
Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) will offer a Winter Session for new and current students wanting to get a head start on the spring semester. New students who are interested in improving their job skills, positioning themselves for a promotion or just beating the winter doldrums by taking a class online are invited to enroll as well.
The following credit classes will be offered online and will run from Dec. 23, 2016 through Jan. 26, 2017. New, returning and continuing students can register now. Tuition is due Dec. 7 or at time of registration.
