Schuylkill County School Districts Allocated More ESSER Funding


On Monday, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf announced that Pennsylvania is expected to receive $4.9 billion in federal relief funds to help Pre-K to 12 schools return students to classroom learning and equitably expand opportunity for students who need it most during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Victim Identified from Monday's Fatal Crash near Shenandoah

The victim of a fatal crash on Monday near Shenandoah has been identified.

Around 11:30am, emergency personnel were called to a single vehicle crash along Route 54 near the Shenandoah/Mahanoy Township line near Yatesville Road.

The victim in the crash, Anthony Campanicki, 59, of Union Township, near Ringtown, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:25pm by Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner Andrew Szczyglak.

Shenandoah Police Chief George Carado said that crash occurred as Campanicki, was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer heading eastbound on Route 54 out of Shenandoah.

Campanicki reportedly lost control of his vehicle, struck an embankment and was ejected out the rear window of the SUV as it rolled across Route 54 before coming to a rest back on it's wheels.

Shenandoah Police are continuing to investigate the crash.

Eastbound Route 54 was closed while the scene was cleared.

Assisting at the scene was the Shenandoah Fire Department and Shenandoah Ambulance along with Police from Mahanoy Township, West Mahanoy Township, and Frackville.
