Injured State Trooper's Name Released

On Friday afternoon, while a state trooper was assisting a disabled vehicle in the southbound lanes between Exit 124 and 119 on Interstate 81, he returned to his cruiser to a retrieve a fire extinguisher when another vehicle travelling south struck the back of the cruiser.

State Trooper Struck by Vehicle on Interstate

A state trooper was struck by a passing vehicle on Interstate 81 while he was assisting at the scene of a car fire Friday afternoon.

He was flown to Geisinger with unknown injuries.

Southbound lanes of Interstate 81 have been closed at the Frackville exit.
