Alleged Bank Robbery Suspect in Custody

A man that police say robbed a bank near Frackville is reportedly in custody.

The Republican Herald is reporting that Larry Dettery, 38, of 34 West Penn Street, Shenandoah was taken into custody over night by West Mahanoy Township Police for the robbery of the Minersville Bank in West Mahanoy, near Frackville, on Friday.

Dettery was locked up in Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $75,000 bail.

Authorities say that around 9:00am, a man walked into the Miners Bank, Frackville, and handed a teller a note demanding money.

The teller handed the suspect an unknown amount of money, then the suspect fled the scene on foot onto Spruce Street.

A suspicious package was also left behind, prompting the calling of bomb squad, which after investigation was ruled harmless.

Police helicopters were also seen flying over Frackville searching for the suspect.  The Schuylkill North Vo-Tech was also on lock down while the area was searched.
