One person was transported to hospital Thursday night in a rollover crash in Mahanoy City.
Several Schuylkill County wrestlers took to the mats at the PIAA Class 2A Wrestling Championships, battling through preliminary, 1st Round,, and consolation rounds against some of the top wrestlers in Pennsylvania.
Below is a breakdown from Thursday of each county wrestler’s bouts during the opening rounds of the tournament.
Updegrave opened his state tournament in the preliminary round, where he was pinned by Brayden Lisowski (Penns Valley) in 2:47, sending him to the consolation bracket.
In Consolation Round 1, Updegrave was defeated by Nolan Savage (Line Mountain) via 17-1 technical fall in 1:59, ending his run at the PIAA Class 2A Wrestling Championships.
Mentusky’s tournament began in the preliminary round, where he was defeated by Ty Matthews (Central) via 15-0 technical fall in 2:47.
In Consolation Round 1, Mentusky was eliminated after being pinned by Max Jovenetti (St. Marys) in 2:23.
McGraw dropped his first-round match to Logan Latimore (North East), who secured a pin in 2:32.
McGraw bounced back in Consolation Round 1, earning a pin over Max McConville (United) in 3:40 to stay alive in the tournament.

Reitz opened his tournament in the preliminary round, where Will Edwards (West Branch) recorded a 17-0 technical fall in 4:25.
Reitz then competed in Consolation Round 1, where he fell to Carter Ickes (Chestnut Ridge) by 11-1 major decision, ending his tournament.

Reyes was forced to forfeit his preliminary round match to Bruce Anderchak (Quaker Valley).
In Consolation Round 1, Reyes was listed as NC (no contest) against Davion Edmond (Cathedral Prep).
Dixon competed in the first round of the championship bracket, where he was defeated by Lucas Boyer (Elizabeth Forward) by 8-4 decision.
In Consolation Round 1, Dixon lost a close match to Dawson Lomison (Bald Eagle Area) by 5-4 decision, ending his state tournament run.
Quick opened the tournament with a 9-4 decision win over Kolton Carlson (Laurel) in the preliminary round.
In the first round, Quick was pinned by Landon Tucker (Mifflinburg) in 1:03, sending him to the consolation bracket.

Kurtz began his state tournament with a win in the preliminary round, pinning Max McConville (United) in 3:16.
In the first round of the championship bracket, Kurtz fell to Aiden Bliss (Port Allegany) by 19-4 technical fall in 4:09.
