Pottsville Kiwanis Announces Winners of Fire Hydrant Painting Contest

 


The Pottsville Kiwanis Club has announced the winners of its Fire Hydrant Painting Contest, with dozens of creatively decorated hydrants adding patriotic color and local pride along the route of Schuylkill County's America250 Parade.

A total of 30 fire hydrants were painted as part of the contest, transforming ordinary street fixtures into colorful works of art celebrating American history, community spirit, and Schuylkill County pride.

The contest featured both a Youth Division and an Adult & Community Organization Division.

Youth Division Winners

  • First Place: Dalmatian (515 W. Market St.) — Charlotte Stevenosky
  • Second Place: Eagle (1621 W. Market St.) — Abby Heiser
  • Third Place: Schuylkill County Theme (10th & W. Market St.) — Noah Brittenburg and Matthew Tosh

Adult & Community Organization Division Winners

  • First Place: 9/11 Remembrance (Market & Third streets, Discovery Park) — Andy Wollyung and Jeanette Tobin
  • Second Place: Firehouse, Fair, & 250th Fun (13th & Market streets) — Schuylkill County Fair Royalty
  • Third Place: First Responders & Military (201 Mahantongo St.) — Conewago Pottsville

The painted hydrants became a popular attraction throughout the America250 celebration weekend, with many paradegoers stopping to admire the artwork while traveling along the parade route.

The contest was organized by the Pottsville Kiwanis Club as part of the community's celebration of America's 250th anniversary.

A Philadelphia man is facing felony charges after Pennsylvania State Police say he drove erratically before crashing an SUV into a Port Carbon daycare Monday morning while 22 children and four adult staff members were inside the building.

PennDOT Driver’s License, Photo Centers Closed for Independence Day Holiday
